The Jing-Qi-Shen Cultivation Method and its characteristic of Donguibogam

Abstract
Objectives : Various cultivation methods can be found suggested in Donguibogam(ÔÔì¢ÜÄÊü) Naegyeongpyeon(Ò®ÌØø¹) ranging from Juchenhwahu(ñ²ô¸ûýý¦), massage(äÎؤ), physical and breathing exercise(ÓôìÚ), fetal breathing(÷ÃãÓ), clicking teeth(Í°öÍ), saliva swallowing (æ¿äû), sounding the celestial drum(Ù°ô¸ÍÕ), Six words(ë»í®ÌÁ), Seven step(öÒàøÜÆ), God pillow method(ãêö×Ûö), and Taoism.

Methods : The cultivation methods in Donguibogam are mainly found in the first volume of Naegyeongpyeon, and some can be discovered in Oehyeongpyeon(èâû¡ø¹) and Japbyeongpyeon(íÚÜ»ø¹). This paper aims to study the system and special features of the cultivation methods that unfold within the first volume of Naegyeongpyeon.

Results : Donguibogam's cultivation methods are Jing-Qi-Shen cultivation method(ïñѨãêå×ßæÛö), and Naegyeongpyeon's Sinhyeong(ãóû¡) can be described as a collection of general remarks, and Jing(ïñ), Qi(Ѩ), and Shen(ãê) is dealt individually. The condition for Jing culvation is not to spill sperm, Qi cultivation is to control the breathing, and Shen culviation is having a calm mind.

Conclusions : The Jing-Qi-Shen cultivation method of Donguibogam revolves around Taoism integrated with Buddhism. It places importance in the cultivation of the Inner Center(Ò®Ó¡), and emphasizes Shen in particular among Jing, Qi, and Shen.
